Professor Hikmat Hilal, Lecturer at the Chemistry Department at An-Najah National University has recently obtained a D.Sc. in science from Manchester University.
He is the first Palestinian professor to obtain this degree which is also obtained by few in the Arab World.
Prof. Hilal obtained the degree after discussing his dissertation titled: “Stability and Efficiency Enhancement of Thermal and Photo-electrochemical Catalysts”
A D.Sc. is an academic research degree awarded in a number of countries throughout the world. In some countries, "Doctor of Science" is the title used for the standard doctorate in the sciences; elsewhere the D.Sc. is a "higher doctorate" awarded in recognition of a substantial and sustained contribution to scientific knowledge beyond that required for a Ph.D. It may also be awarded as an honorary degree.
On this occasion, Prof. Hilal thanked An-Najah staff for encouraging him and offering him the needed help.
