Abstract
Medical plants are used in wide range in Arab communities especially in Palestine, they play an important role in recovery during the postpartum period in diet, traditional medicine. This research focuses on the use of plants during pregnancy, postpartum recovery and infant healthcare among the Palestinian society especially in Al-Jeftlek village. It aims to identify culturally important traditions that may facilitate implementation of culturally appropriate healthcare. Methods: Data were collected in Al-Jeftlek village by making interviews with women. Results: A total of 22 different plant species are used in women healthcare, of which 37.8% are used during pregnancy and 25.5% are used in postpartum recovery. Conclusion: Medical plant use is common among Al-Jeftlek society to facilitate childbirth, mitigate postpartum hemorrhage, aid postpartum recovery, and for use in infant care.
