Abstract
Objective: identification and molecular characterization of trematodes larvae in Melanopsis praemorsa.
Methods: Tens ofM. praemorsa were collected from Al-Bathan freshwater. Cercariae were obtained by lighting and crushing methods.Cercariae were collected for DNA extraction. PCR was used to detect trematodes infection by the amplification of ITS2 rDNA region using specific primers.
Result: Three different species of cercariae were identified. These cercariae called CercariamelanopsipalestiniaI, Cercaria melanopsipalestinia IIand Cercariamelanopsipalestinia III.Cercariae which were used in PCR reaction for the detection of ITS2 rDNA showed bands on agarose gel electrophoreses.
Conclusion: Further study will be done to determine partial sequences of PCR products. Sequences will be compared with those previously available sequences.
