An-Najah holds International Mathematics Workshop

Date:
Tue, 19/08/2014

On Monday 18 August, the Faculty of Science at An-Najah National University held the International Mathematics Workshop titled” Random Structures, Analytic and Problematic Approaches”.

A large number of lecturers in Mathematics from An-Najah and a number of European universities, in addition to mathematics students from across the country attended the event.

This workshop which is fully funded by the International Center for Pure and Applied                            Mathematics (CIMPA) is the first of its kind in Palestine, and took a long time of planning. In the course of the workshop, which will take place from 18-27 August; the European guest professors will be lecturing the graduate students in different mathematical fields.

This workshop which was organised by Prof. Naji Qatanani and Prof. Pierre Nicodeme will form a significant foundation for the students’ knowledge in the vast mathematical fields, and broaden their horizons.

Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah, stressed the importance of An-Najah hosting such international events that are very beneficial for Palestinian universities, and help students obtain their higher education in Mathematics.

Notes:

-          The workshop was also attended by Dr. Sabri Saydam, Dean of Science at An-Najah, Professor. Naji Qatanani, organizer of the event, and Professor Pier Necodim, ORganizer from the French party.

-          CIMPA (International Centre for Pure and Applied Mathematics) is a non-profit international organization established in Nice (France) in 1978. Its aim is to promote international cooperation in higher education and research in mathematics and related subjects, particularly computer science, for the benefit of developing countries.
